I welcome this development since Barchart has the resources to build and maintain a web-based stock screener. Another big advantage is that the Barchart screen is updated every 10 minutes intraday and includes US, Canadian, and international stock exchanges.
Drawbacks of the screener are that stocks must have at least 6-months of trading activity (no new IPOs) and must trade above $2 with a volume of 10,000 shares or more.
I will continue posting my weekly screen with daily and monthly charts on alltimehighstocks.com and I will continue writing blog posts about trading and about individual stocks like Computer Modelling Group (CMG), Gold Resource Corp (GORO), and Almaden Minerals (AMM, AAU). I plan to use the intraday screener occasionally, but it will not really change my trading approach since I am mainly interested in longer-term moves in stocks with favorable long-term chart patterns and fundamental tailwinds.
Concentrate on proper execution. Your entry criteria should be dictated by the chart pattern not by the price. -Olivier Tischendorf
