About

I am Andy, a Canadian scientist interested in investing, speculating, trend-following, and analyzing stocks.

A couple years ago I was looking for a free stock-screener with a list of all-time highs on the US and Canadian stock markets. I found some good sites that almost had what I was looking for, but not quite (uglychart.comstockscreener.info, trade-ideas.com, and barchart.com).

I wanted to be able to quickly look at short and long-term charts without a lot of clicking. So I wrote a computer program to screen stocks and create a tailored output with daily and monthly charts side-by-side. Later I decided to put my weekend scan on this blog because it seemed like something that others might use. Maybe it would contribute something useful to the internet?

I use the blog as a place to put some of my stock screens, charts, and thoughts. It has also, to my surprise, been a way to talk-with and learn-from investors around the world via e-mail.

Initially I posted entire stock lists to the blog so readers can make their own decisions about which stocks to add to their watchlists. This full list is available on the "Stock Screen Results" page. Recently, however, I have been trying to narrow down the list and that effort has resulted in "The Priority List."

In terms of stock selection I have generally adopted ideas from Dan Zanger, Nicolas Darvas, Braden Glett, William O'Neil, Blackstar, and others, including:
In terms of trade management I am mostly a trend-follower with holding periods from months to years. I do swing-trade sometimes depending on the market environment.

The blog is for entertainment and informational purposes only. I am not a financial advisor and I am never making investment recommendations. If you are looking for an investing guru or specific buy/sell recommendations there are many people and websites that will be happy to 'help' in exchange for your money.
